Hey guys!

Well, it's October 1st, one month away from NaNoWriMo! I've been giving NaNo a lot of thought, and have a great plot, which I'm really excited about (Surprising, I know) and can't wait to start! I'm kind of nervous though, seeing as I'm going to have so many other things to juggle as well as my 1,677 words a day. Anyone else going to have the same problem?

For people who are participating in NaNo, How is everyone doing with their plot? Do you have it all planned out, or are you just going to go into NaNo with no idea where your plot will be heading?

This is my first year doing NaNo, so I'm sure going to need a lot of support from you guys! :)

Name: Katie, KT, Kate, reve_toujours
Age: 16
Hobbies besides writing?: ART (drawing, sketching, painting, coloring, anything that gets messy), reading, dance (Hip-hop mainly), Horseback Riding (Western), Surfing the web and being a computer geek!, talking on the phone, TV, games of all kinds, eating, sleeping and all that good stuff.
Favorite Book? Author? "Perks of Being A Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold, The Harry Potter Books by J.K. Rowling, So many Stephen King books, I can't name them all! I'm really liking "No Plot, No Problem!" by Chris Baty, which I'm in the middle of reading.
Favorite genre(s) to write: Mystery, Horror, Romance, Action. I love to read Fantasy, but can't write it at ALL.
Just how lazy are you really?: I'm a naturally lazy person, I've always been. I procrastinate on everything from writing to homework to calling people back on the phone or sending e-mails, etc. I'm never able to finish anything I start, unless I do the whole thing in one sitting and I HATE that!
Anything else you think we should know: I don't like olives.

Name:</b> Sushi / Serpent / Kusani / sun_huntress

Age:</b> 18

Hobbies besides writing?:</b> Art, music, creating species/cultures/worlds/languages, role-playing, video games, animals, archery, martial arts, zoology... You know the drill. (Though the drill's a bit odd in my case. =D)

Favorite Book? Author?:</b> Hmm. I love The Chanur Saga and The Faded Sun Trilogy (CJ Cherryh), the Dragonrider of Pern series (Anne McCaffrey), Raptor Red (Robert T. Bakker), all Conan books, Mainline (Deborah Christian), most stuff by Tolkien, some Michael Crighton, and The Silver Wolf (Alice Bochardt).

Favorite genre(s) to write:</b> Sci-fantasy. =D I also love writing (original) slash.

Just how lazy are you really?:</b> Very. I'm horrible at procrastinating and incredibly bad at getting up the motivation to do stuff. However, I've found that timed periods of writing (like 15 or 30 minutes) and deadlines (i.e. a daily word quota) do wonders for me. =D

Anything else you think we should know:</b> I'm participating in WriMo this year, tried WriYe this year as well (but the director let the whole project die--I was very upset and disappointed), and won WriMo last year with Seeker (the link takes you to the rough draft).

Mmm. Now that that's done... I shall sleep. College five days a week + work on weekends = very, very tired and frazzled writer. ^^;;

Nice to be here, though. =^_^=

PS~ My copy of No Plot? No Problem! finally arrived today! *SQUEE* I read the first four chapters already. I adore Chris Baty's writing style! <3! I can't wait for November to roll around--I'm so excited!!! =D

PPS~ Info and links to my worlds and various subsites are in my LJ userinfo. Plus, my memories have archived all the stories that aren't on my website. =D

Oh, and here's that challenge thingie.Collapse )

I'm Katie, and our other mod is Ellen (zzzshironeko, that crazy girl) We're so happy to have new members, because the community's been pretty lacking in the posting/participation. I hope we have some LJ whores here, who love to post EVERYTHING!

There are a few rules, nothing too extreme, HERE.

Anyway, it'd be a great thing for you guys to introduce yourselves to the community. Not saying you have to, but we'd like to get to know everyone! :)

Who out there is doing NaNoWriMo this year? Hopefully a bunch of people in the community will be participating (I know I will) and we can all support each other for those 30 crazy days. (Also, has anyone bought 'No Plot, No Problem!' yet? It's a great guideline to NaNoWriMo and has a bunch of helpful hints, ideas and tricks.)

We've also just started our first writing challenge/exercise last week. An example is posted HERE, and the actual challenge can be seen HERE. Ellen's already posted hers on the entry below mine, so you can also use hers as an example.

That's all for now!

Newbie post - skip at your leisure [Sep. 23rd, 2004|10:39 pm]

[music |laptop humming tunefully]

Me kenovay. I write, obviously. Mostly fanfic at the moment, and within that, almost exclusively slash, but some original stuff. I whine a lot. I find dialogue fun to write and exposition and dialogue frustrating.

I never finish things. Mainy because I'm lazy, and I lose interest, and I have the attention span of a gnat. I like feedback, and I really, seriously like constructive criticism. Or even non-constructive criticism. "Your fic sucks and I never want to read another word you've written" at least gives me the heads up that there's something wrong with the fic in the first place.

And finally? The best AU plot for a due South Ray/Ray fic just landed in my lap, and I'm too lazy to start it. Which is where you come in.
